NATIONAL VETERAN NONPROFIT NEEDS VAN TO SERVE VETS
Powerful YouTube news clip about NVF's critical mission assisting Veterans and their families.
- Help us replace the homeless Veteran outreach van for the National Veterans Foundation (www.NVF.org).
- When Covid-19 shut down the country, the NVF didn’t miss a day. NVF staff created and packed “Survivor Boxes,” a 3-day supply of food and water including masks and gloves. Delivered to the homeless on Skid Row and other locations, NVF Survivor Boxes offered some protection for the most vulnerable, most forgotten population. Over and over we heard, “You are the only ones coming down here.”
- The NVF has served our Veterans since 1985 and our white van with the red, white and blue NVF Eagle logo has become one of the most recognized symbols on Skid Row and its counterparts across LA County. Now in its 13th year of service, the miles it’s traveled are beginning to show in increased maintenance costs. This comes at a time when the need for Outreach is greater due to the pandemic.
- As a nonprofit we rely solely on donations. Funding a major purchase like a new van from limited resources is difficult, even for a four-star rated charity like the NVF. But the need for it is present and real. Worse, the ensuing job and housing losses promise to increase the overall homeless population. Los Angeles has the largest Veteran population in the nation. We’re looking at a tsunami of homelessness among Veterans, men and women.
