Hey everyone,
My name is Lucas Spangher, and I'm a Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley and a Google intern. I work in the intersection of climate change, green energy, and machine learning. Transportation demands between Berkeley and Google SF grew too intense for bike/Bart while entering my dissertation writing year, so I emptied my savings and bought an electric motorcycle -- 700mpg-e and beautiful. Like many people reading this, I felt pretty uncomfortable buying a gas-powered vehicle. Swallowing the price difference between electric and gas was tough on a student salary, but I felt it was worth it!
Unfortunately, my motorcycle was stolen a week ago in SF, and my insurance denied my claim for reasons I don't think are fair but don't have the power to fight. I'd really like to continue transit in an environmentally responsible way, but another electric motorcycle is more than I can afford.
Although it’s kind of embarrassing, I'm asking for financial help to get another electric one. If you could contribute just $25 or $50, it would help a lot; I'd appreciate it so much! And if, by some miracle, we surpass the amount required for another e-moto, I'll donate the rest to another grad student who is looking to join the e-vehicle revolution
Thank you so much for reading, and thanks for considering donating.
