WE NEED YOUR HELP TO REPAIR & REOPEN THIS WONDERFUL MULTI-USE 4X4/OHV TRAIL!!!

We are requesting donations to assist with the considerable material costs of replacing the 5 bridges on this trail that have been condemned due to old age and deterioration.

The McKelvey Lake Trail is a multi-use motorized/OHV trail in the Tobacco Root Mountains of Montana. This trail accesses not just McKelvey Lake, but several other lakes in the area. The trail supports hiking, fishing, hunting, & many motorized uses. It is considered one of the toughest natural 4x4/OHV trails in the state.

Last year (2021), due to over 30 years of natural deterioration, the 5 bridges on this multi-use Forest Service trail were condemned by Forest Service engineers. Time simply took its toll on these wooden bridges. For the safety of all users, all 5 bridges require replacement before this wonderful trail can be reopened.

An agreement between a coalition of people & organizations, along with the U.S. Forest Service, has worked to develop a plan for the replacement of these bridges, which must be built to modern federal safety standards. The plan was finalized in November of 2021. With your help, work will commence around July of 2022.

Donations will go to assist with the considerable materials and incidental costs associated with this project. Leftover funds, if any, will be used for other 4x4 trail projects in Montana. Volunteer labor, provided by the coalition and under the direction of the Forest Service, will do the majority of the work/labor involved.
