On Friday 21st February, a couple were sitting outside my coffee shop, Bartons on Dockhead in Bermondsey, London SE1, when two men pulled up on a motorbike.
They were dressed head to foot in black, wearing helmets and masks. They demanded the woman's bicycle.
When her partner said no, they produced a knife. He had no choice but to step back and let them take it.
The police were called immediately. They took two hours to arrive. Two hours. For a knifepoint robbery in central London.
I'm Steve, the owner of Bartons. This happened right outside my door and it has shaken me. I don't know this couple well but I know what happened to them was wrong, and I know the response from the authorities was disgraceful.
I'm setting up this fund to replace the stolen bike because I believe people are decent and will want to help put something right.
Every penny raised will go directly to the victim.
At the same time I will be pressing the police, my MP, and every authority available to me to see these individuals caught.
Please give what you can, and please share this. The more eyes on it the better.
