English:
OUR HISTORY
Ayití (meaning mountainous place) is the land of the Taino. It was invaded by Christopher Columbus in 1492. The Spaniards enslaved and killed many of the Taino. They brought the plantation economy and disease. The surviving Taino would integrate into the communities of enslaved Africans that would later be brought by the British and the French to work on plantations. In the 1700s, enslaved Africans, utilizing Vodou, a religion of West African & Taino origins, resisted slavery and waged war on their enslavers. In 1804, Ayití won its independence from English, Spanish, & French colonial rule. It was the first free Black nation. Haitians were forced to pay a ransom to their former enslavers. Over a century later, Ayití would once again be invaded, this time, by the United States. Although the occupation ended, Haitian people are still fighting TODAY for the right to govern ourselves.
OUR WHY
This land project is designed to restore our dignity as descendants of the colonized and enslaved. It will address our basic human need for community and belonging so that we can thrive! This project is intersectional. It centers Black and Native peoples, Trans women and men, non-binary, gender expansive, and intersex people, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and asexual people, darkskinned people, fat people, disabled and chronically ill people (including Long COVID, ME/CFS, and HIV), people who are still resisting COVID and other contagious diseases, poor people, homeless and housing insecure people, sex workers, domestic workers, and other informal laborers, the youth, birth-givers and those who support them, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, people of the so called “Third World”, people who practice indigenous/animism-based spiritualities, plants, fungi, water, air, soil, insects and other non-human creatures. This project is led by those who exist within these intersections who hold de-colonial perspectives.
OUR OBJECTIVES
Phase 1: Land Back
Liberation starts with land access and we are happy to announce that WE HAVE LAND! 15,000 square feet (~0.34 acres) was donated to us by a Haitian elder whose great wish is for younger people to rebuild Haiti. She has entrusted us with continuing Haiti’s legacy of liberation. Thank you, Michou.
Phase 2: Accessible & Sustainable Housing
The funds will help us build systems: housing, food, water, energy, waste management, and sewage treatment that works WITH the Earth and not against it. Housing will be accessible for wheelchair users. It will be spacious enough to accommodate bodies of any size. It will utilize and recycle garbage to build the structure and clean the Earth. It will grow and expand with us!
Phase 3: Farming
This land will feed us. We will grow our own food, becoming less dependent on the state & private entities for sustenance. Growing our own food means taking back our power and honoring our ancestors who grew food before us.
What are the funds going towards?
These funds will cover the purchase of building materials for adaptive housing, communal spaces, food systems and th cost of labor. Your donation is a show of solidarity.
LAND BACK!
Kreyòl Ayisyen:
ISTWA NOU
Ayití (ki vle di kote ki gen mòn) se tè Taino yo. Kristòf Kolon te anvayi peyi a an 1492. Espayòl yo te fè anpil Taino vin esklav epi touye yo. Yo te pote ekonomi plantasyon an ak maladi. Malgre okipasyon an te fini, pèp Ayisyen an toujou ap goumen JODI A pou dwa pou gouvène tèt li.

Li pral ase laj pou akomode moun tout gwosè. Li pral itilize epi resikle fatra pou konstwi estrikti a epi netwaye Latè. Li pral grandi epi elaji avèk nou!
Faz 3: Agrikilti
