I'm making an urgent appeal to you to help us renovate our life-saving health complex located in sugarcane plantations rural community Cinco Casas, Monte Plata province, Dominican Republic, the first modern ever built in a “batey” in the country’s history that has treated over 280,000 patients over the years. Today, the complex needs urgent structural repairs in order to continue delivering critical health and HIV care and other services, including nutrition, clean water, preventive health education, multivitamins to vulnerable women, children and families. Founded in New York in 1997, Batey Relief Alliance (BRA)® is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to addressing socio-economic and health needs of children and their families severely affected by extreme poverty, disease and hunger in Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly those in highly vulnerable communities of Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Peru – regardless of race, gender, creed, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, social status or political affiliation.
