Hello everyone!

My name is Derek, I'm a part of Repair Café Willowdale.

I'm fundraising to support the growth of our scrappy crew and our growing list of community events we aim to host.

Our mission is simple: to bring our community together to fix broken household items, keep repairable goods out of landfills, and foster a vibrant culture of sustainability right here in North York.

We live in a "throwaway" culture where it is often cheaper or easier to buy something new than to fix it. What that means is every toaster, lamp, or piece of clothing tossed into the trash represents lost history, wasted resources, and extra strain on our environment.

Repair Café Willowdale is trying to change that one toaster at a time.

At our events, local volunteer fixers offer their time and expertise to help neighbours repair everything from small appliances and electronics to clothes and jewelry all for free.

Our aim isn't just to fix stuff; At our core, we really want to share skills, build community resilience, and prove that a little ingenuity can give beloved items a second life. Also, it's fun to fix stuff!

How Your Donation Will Be Used

While our fixers volunteer their time, running a community initiative requires a solid foundation. Your generous donations will go directly toward:

Tools & Supplies: Purchasing shared diagnostic tools, safety equipment, and specialized repair gear (like soldering irons, multi-meters, and specialized screwdrivers) for our volunteers to use.

Organizer & Volunteer Logistics: Supporting the data, organization, and registration infrastructure that keeps our events running smoothly and safely.

Venue & Event Operations: Helping cover local space logistics, insurance, and printing costs for community outreach.

A Bit of Hospitality: Keeping our fixers and visitors fueled with coffee and snacks during busy weekend events (it is a café, after all!).
