The local scout campsite has been in situe for decades with local scout volunteers ensuring its upkeep and upgrades within this conservation area. We strive to be respectful and keep the site available at very low cost to groups who want a wonderful facility in the heart of a fantastic and welcoming community.

Unfortunately on the 6th March we were alerted to a burglary which affected our facility. It sustained cosmetic and building damage to every block on the site and its contents vandalised with a number of items thrown into nearby walking and beauty spots.

Our quick thinking community came together to support and help clear up. However the scout site has allot to do, to bring it back to its former condition. We’ve suffered damaged windows, kitchen tiles and units, mattresses and beds, flooring, plaster work and painting. and much more. We’ve cleaned flooded buildings and cleaned oil and kitchen products that were squirted and thrown in most areas. We will need some plumbing repairs to our toilet facilities and to replace kitchen and cleaning equipment.

We are desperate for support to keep this facility running at low cost and save it! We have scouting, guiding groups and explorers using this facility locally but also nationally. It’s a treasure! We have forest school, other charitable groups and interested parties who also use this facility - we need to keep the place alive!

Any donation you can give will go such a long way to help us bring the facilities back to their former glory.
