For nearly 20 years Roberts Family Development Center (RFDC) has helped educate, mentor, feed, and quite honestly, help raise thousands of kids city wide. Although it began as just an after-school program with 13 students, today RFDC serves 700+  students daily, at eight different locations.  

Over the years our Main Center, located in the heart of North Sacramento, has been a classroom, dance studio, yoga studio, training venue, playground, a place for practice, prayer, counseling, college prep, and so much more.  Although relatively small, in less than 20 years it has become a historic, safe space for our kids and community to gather and grow together.  

Over the years, all this hustle and bustle has taken a toll on our beloved center. Crowded work spaces, old carpet, tiles falling, chipping paint, old furniture and outdated equipment is not the type of environment we need to help our children grow into their fulfill potential. We do the best with what we have.

With the help of Stafford King Wiese Architects, we have designed a clear plan for renovations and in June the construction begins! The total cost of the renovation is $650,000, however we are in need of an additional $200,000 to cover the cost of much needed furnishing, such as a commercial size stove, freezer, and sinks to serve our kids, a projector and a sound system for them to express their art, as well as tables, chairs, curtains, cabinets, podium, donor’s board, and supplies for the mural our students will paint once the building is complete, among other items.
