Remembrance of Barrick
On June 16th, 2021, my wife and I went to our 40 week check up to see how our beautiful baby boy was progressing. We were so excited and hopeful to deliver any day to meet him. My wife and baby were healthy and well throughout the entire pregnancy. Our appointment started out like normal. It quickly changed when the heart doppler was silent. We all tried not to panic, but expressed our concern, while I moved closer to my wife. I knew we were both fearing the worst.
The doctor had my wife get dressed and instructed us to meet him in the ultra sound room.
We prayed silently as we went. To all of our complete disbelief our son Barrick had passed away. We didn’t understand, why, how or when. It just didn’t feel real. We were sent to labor and delivery to be induced just to say good bye. After 13 hours of labor, we had brought an Angel into this world. It was almost immediately that the Dr. discovered a true knot in the umbilical cord. A less than 2% probability of this happening to anyone.
After experiencing such an unimaginable loss, I now had to be strong enough to tell my three daughters that they will not get to meet their baby brother. I watched all their dream s and hopes of a future with their brother slip away. This hit me Especially hard as I lost my dad tragically at the age of nine. I remembered that my moms friends all pulled their money together to pay for my siblings and I to go to the carnival. This one night brought so much joy and happiness to three grieving children. My mom spent the next three years saving every penny she could to take us to Disneyland because it is said to be the happiest place on earth. It truly was a magical place for me and it helped me to get out of my shell that I had been hiding in for so long.
We are making this go fund me in Barricks name for his sisters. My wife and I want our kids to know that even in the darkest of times there is happiness. Thank you all so much for the support and the love we have received through our most difficult moment in life.
