The Spanish cargo ship the Cirilo Amorós was wrecked at Ballyvooney in a bad storm on 15 February 1926. The captain and crew were rescued in dramatic fashion by a team of locals and gardaí, using a cable tied between the ship and the clifftop. To mark this important part of Stradbally's history, an information sign is to be unveiled at Ballyvooney on 15 February next.
