Rita (Margaret) Sharkey of Callow, Frenchpark, and Cavetown passed away suddenly on 28th January 2025.
Throughout her life, Rita was a hugely active member of her community, giving generously of her time and energy to help achieve great things for Cavetown, Croghan, and the surrounding area. She loved nothing more than being involved — spending time with her friends, family, neighbours, and the wider community she cared so deeply about.
Rita was fun-loving, kind-hearted, and generous, always ready to laugh at a bit of divilment. She is deeply missed by all who knew her.
Rita's family and friends are raising funds to create a fitting memorial at her beloved Cavetown Lake — a place that meant so much to her.
As part of this effort, a Family Fun Day and Auction will take place on Sunday 24th May at the Four Provinces, Rathallen, and our Facebook page **REMEMBERING RITA** will also follow Paula Sharkey’s “Dip a Day in May” challenge where she will take a daily dip in Cavetown Lake in order to raise awareness.
We are asking for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, will help us create a lasting tribute to Rita. Please contribute via the GoFundMe link below and share
All funds raised will go towards creating a lasting memorial at Cavetown Lake in memory of Rita, with a donation also being made to Croí in her honour.. Together, we can ensure that Rita’s memory lives on in a place she loved, for generations to come.
