Remembering Rebecca and raising Maverick

Hello everyone,
I am sure most of you have heard the tragic news about Rebecca, the love of my life. However, if you haven’t, Becca passed away on September 22nd. She passed away 12 days after giving birth to our son, Maverick James.
Rebecca was admitted to the hospital a few days after child birth, with an infection that prompted removing most of her colon. The infection, unfortunately had already spread to her blood and she was septic. Postoperatively, they found that her blood was unable to clot due to being diagnosed with DIC. She continued to bleed internally after surgery and her status began to worsen. Her kidneys failed and eventually multiple organ failure followed. The medical staff had exhausted all options and our beautiful Becca passed away.
Rebecca, touched so many lives in her short time on Earth. She was able to bring laughter to anyone she met, and light into any room she entered. She will always have a special place in our hearts.
As a reflection of her caring heart, Becca studied social work and obtained her bachelors degree in the field and was one semester away from her having her masters degree. Becca was proud to have been hired and in the process of training by lakeview behavioral health services in Pensacola to help those with mental health disorders, those battling addiction, and children who have been abused or neglected. There was no better person for the job than Becca whose warmhearted spirit was apparent in her presence. We were both very excited to work hard and begin our lives with our new addition, Maverick James.
Since her passing, I have been deeply touched by all of you who have reached out to check on Maverick and I. I could never express the amount of gratitude I have for all of you who have prayed for Rebecca and our family.
I have created this GoFundMe for those who would wish to donate to help with Maverick during our time of mourning. This tragic loss comes as an absolute shock to us all. This has been a difficult time for our family, not only mentally but financially. My goal is to collect funds for Maverick, for his upbringing, and his future. With only one source of income, I do not want Maverick to be without in any way throughout his life. With that being said, any amount you could donate, no matter big or small, is appreciated. If you are unable to donate, you can help by simply sharing this fundraiser. I have always heard it takes a village to raise a child, and I never thought those words would be proven to me so quickly in Maverick’s life. Our “village” is a beautiful one and we are so blessed to have it.
Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts,
Ralph and Maverick James
