Remembering Phil Eadon - 10 Year Anniversary Celebration
Do you want to join me (and my family) in making a difference?

Hello my name is Joshua I am 10 years old and live in Derbyshire. I am fundraising for St. Benedict’s because of what this hospice did to help my grandpa. It all started when he was diagnosed with cancer in January 2013, I wasn’t born when this happened. He had lots of hospital visits to help with his cancer. He started going to the hospice to get help and support for his cancer in early 2014. It was a very tough time for my grandpa but he enjoyed his visits because the people knew how he felt and what he was going through. It was also grandpa’s happy place because he felt safe as he knew the people could help and support him. I spent a lot of time with him and use to visit him when he was in the hospital and in the hospice. I was born on September the 18th 2013. Sadly Grandpa’s time came as he passed away on the 29th of March 2015.
What I am doing to fundraise
To fundraise my family and I are going to do lots of sporting events between the 29th of March 2024 up to the 29th of March 2025. I am ending it on the 29th March 2025 because it will be the 10-year anniversary of my grandpa’s death. I currently have 4 main events planned for 2024 that I am really looking forward to. My first 3 events are Triathlons. My first Triathlon is in June 2024, in Henly. I am doing a 50m swim, 3k bike ride and a 1.5k run. The second Triathlon is in July 2024 in Chesham and the third Triathlon is in August in York. I am doing the same distance at all events and hopefully be faster by the end after all my training. If you are still asking yourself what the last activity is well…I am running 4k in the Junior Great North Run! This will be in the North East where my grandpa lived for over 30 years. The event is on the 7th September 2024. I hope to finish with a surprise event in March and will do other smaller activities throughout the year. I hope that lots of people donate so I can support the hospice to help lots of other people and families like they helped my grandpa and our family.

My mum has been so supportive with all my training and I have now inspired her as part of the 10 year anniversary challenge. She will complete a Triathlon (I didn’t think she would sign up)! Her Triathlon is in July in Chesham where she will swim 300m, bike 20k and run 5k.
Great North Run Update:
Although I will be tackling the Junior Great North Run in September, my mum, uncle and auntie will be running the Great North Run (half marathon) for St Benedict’s in memory of their dad. It’s will be the first time running together. My mum and auntie have never took part in a race like this and will be a big challenge, although Chris has completed it multiple times. Please help me support them by donating:

Keep a look out for 2025 new challenges to be launched
My thank you to St. Benedict’s
I want to say thank you to St. Benedict’s for letting me (and my family) raise money and suppling me with the tops, vests and the buckets. Also the biggest thank you is for looking after my grandpa for just over a year and making him feel welcome and happy until he died.
