I'm pledging to cover 100miles/160km in May through running outdoors/treadmill/rowing machine and football, to raise money for Molly’s Gift. I will track all of my miles via my smart watch and uploaded to my strava, follow me @Ben Whelband to see my progress! I will also upload updates on my Facebook page.
I've been on my own weight loss journey the past year going from covid times unhappy reaching 21st through food and drink to not being able to run for 5 mins. I have now built myself up to be able to run 5kms and regularly exercise through rowing in the gym and Football for Fitness on a Monday. This has taken my weight down to 15st 10 and I am a lot happier and healthier. I now want to push myself further to reach my goal of 15st before my July holiday to disneyland paris with family and friends.
I see no better way of pushing myself a lot further and staying motivated than doing it for an amazing cause. It will be a massive challenge and a huge leap from my current progress, but it's a small thing in comparison to the effort that is put in behind the scenes at this amazing charity.
Molly’s Gift are a local charity that support children and young people. They were formed in May 2019 in memory of the wonderful Molly Webb who sadly died suddenly on 6th January 2019 from Sepsis.
They raise funds to give back to the local community in small grants to support disadvantaged children get active! They also deliver on The Holiday Activity & Food Programme, tackling social isolation & food poverty. Last year they also started delivering a Saturday morning club to support families on a weekend, and provide a hot meal and activity for some of the most at need families. They also deliver events across the year, such as our annual fun day, which is a chance to celebrate their work, offer a fun day for families, but also raise some money! They also do ad-hock work and in the past have delivered a young leaders volunteering course to support local young people to become volunteers in the community.
Please help me to achieve my target by making a small donation! All donations will also add to my motivation for this challenge!
