Remembering Mark Lawson-Support for a Hero's family

We wish to raise money in support for a local Hero Mark Lawson. Unfortunately during the creation of the GoFundMe, Mark has since passed away.

He will always be a much-loved dad/husband/pillar in the community- Mark Lawson, was diagnosed with 2 Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain tumours which are terminal and despite this he had worked daily at his family's store and had even learned to play the piano since he was given the news in May 2020. Mark has always been positive and supported the community of Coliseum Cards , always making sure he was there to open the store and help support Shaz in events so the players didn’t miss out. Mark and Shaz were given "BeTamworth" award by the Mayor of Tamworth for the work done within the community. Their store was recognised and given the WPN Premium title from Wizards of the Coasts owned by Hasbro- and recognised as one of the best gaming stores in the world!

Mark powered on through his diagnosis, devoting himself to his friends and relatives whilst also helping his wife Shaz run their card shop Coliseum Cards in Tamworth town centre. He only missed work to undergo treatment. He said: “The store has given me a purpose to get up and get out, otherwise I’d just sleep which is not good. I have even started to learn the piano, something I’ve always wanted to do.

Marks health deteriorated daily to the point that there is nothing further that the hospitals could do for him. His wife Shaz who started Coliseum Cards with Mark in order to aid the bond with their son Jake has been doing everything on her own and has had to shut her card shop or cancel events due to Marks health. The shop has been closed around 8 times in the last three weeks alone and a lot more this year alone which is having a massive impact on the Lawson family. Due to Marks passing, they are having to open on very restricted hours.

We are Charlie and Alivia and we first met Shaz and Mark 3 years ago. They were super friendly and helped us get into a popular tabletop card game- Magic the Gathering. I remember Mark always having a smile on his face and a quick wit. I have made friends for life through this community and they really are the nicest people and deserve so much more. We created this page in hopes to ultimately give back to them, and as a community offer help and support in their time of need- even more so now as costs of funerals are not cheap and Shaz, her son Jake and family deserve the best for Mark.

In December 2022 Mark said "I continue to survive and thrive" Even though he had this dark news he was still putting a positive outlook on things. If only we all had a little bit of Mark about us. Please help support them, every donation helps and is extremely valued, thank you.
