Remembering Esme: Team Triathlon & Chasing the Sun Challenge
Exercise has been so helpful to us since the death of our darling daughter Esme in June 2024. So, when thinking about how to mark her first anniversary, a physical challenge felt fitting. Initially Andy and I were planning to do a Relay Triathlon together, with Andy swimming and cycling and me running. However, when we mentioned the idea to a few of our friends and family, people said they'd love to join in, and now there are 11 teams taking part in the Abersoch Triathlon on Saturday 21st June!!! It's amazing!! That's over 30 people participating, plus a whole load of others who are coming to whoop and cheer!
Also, on the same day, our friend Rich will be 'Chasing the Sun' on a 200 mile cycle ride, setting off in Whitley Bay at sunrise and arriving in Ayr to witness the (hopefully) glorious sun set in the evening. He's kindly offered to do this challenge in memory of Esme, with it being on the same day as the Triathlon, so he's part of #TeamEsme too! You can find out more about his challenge here - Chase the Sun
It really will be a team effort, so we've set up this page for anyone who would like to sponsor our collective endeavours! We're raising money for SANDS (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Society) who have been supporting Andy and I for the last year. Their specialist care is exemplary and any amount you give will really make a difference to help support other families going through the pain of loosing a child.
More information about Sands (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Society):
SANDS supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.
