We all miss live music, but musicians miss it most of all. All of us in the entertainment industry were hit by the first blow struck by the coronavirus shutdown. Many are entering their fifth week with no work, no income, and worst of all no creative outlet.
Amidst the fallout of this debacle, a revolution has already begun. We are collectively discovering that livestream "concerts" are more than just a novelty pastime. Artists are discovering that they can play for a "crowd" and scrape some tips from the comfort of their couch. Music lovers are discovering that livestreaming their favorite local artists while cooking dinner is sometimes preferable to a dark, crowded room.
I'm raising money to pay musicians. We are working towards a "sterile venue" out of a rehearsal space, that we might invite our local talent out to play and livestream them straight to you, in broadcast quality. Each show will include a virtual tip jar, but we want to be able to offer a small guarantee to each artist. Funding now will allow us to secure the space and the last of the hardware, start scheduling, and start streaming live performances of your favorite Sacramento area musicians right to your pocket.
The Sacramento music community can and will survive this crisis with a little help from our friends. Thank you for giving what you can to support.
