Relocating to New Orleans

On August 4 I will be leaving Ohio for a new, exciting journey in my life. I have accepted an awesome job through AmeriCorps Vista as the Veteran Operations Officer at Rebuilding Together New Orleans. My role will consist of providing sustainable housing and repairs on existing veteran homes through the coordination of fellow New Orleans veteran volunteers on these homes. I also just recently accepted a (part time) freelance writing position with the NOLA Defender, covering all types of New Orleans culture stories. 

These funds will benefit the moving cost of relocating to New Orleans. I can cover half of the moving costs, but due to my two remaining months in Ohio at my jobs, there's no room in my work hours to increase my work days/pay. These funds ($1700) will cover any of the fees that my portion ($1900) can't:  gas ($200) to travel, the moving truck rental fee ($604), utility deposits (unknown), application fee (unknown), and deposit on my rental ($800-950), first month's rent ($800-950), and a pet fee ($300-500 depending on the rental). 

I would like to have all the funds raised by mid-July in order to sign my rental contract and be able to put the deposits down on the moving truck, rental, and utility deposits. 

Every dollar donated will help me reach one step closer to 1. relocating to help vets in my new job 2. relocating to start writing for NOLA Defender, and 3. reaching my dream of relocating to the city of New Orleans that has grown a passion for a culture and a city that I never knew would steal my heart.

We live in a time where some people are selfish and care more about their own selves, but we also live in a time where many of us want to see our friends and loved ones reach their goals and dreams, to see others happy, to return back to the Good Samaritan model, and for someone like myself- to be able to give back to others while learning new and exciting things about people and places. 

So, thank you, in advance, to all of you who choose to help me reach my dreams. I have had so many great things happening all at once, and I am truly blessed to have so many people who have supported me to get to my degree, and continue to support me in this next chapter in my life.
