Relief For High Note Workers After Major Flood

Donation protected
Hello from High Note! Brenna, assistant manager here, speaking. On Sunday July 20th, our bar had to shut down due to a flood outside of our control, creating beyond $100,000 dollars worth of damage. Much of our equipment can be replaced with insurance thankfully, however we are still at a loss. We are not sure of a concrete date of reopening as we are still figuring everything out. The High Note is comprised of an EXTREMELY capable of team, and with our abilities, knowledge, and with Evan and his 24 pack of redbull, we are on the best track we can be as we adapt to these circumstances! Unfortunately, this is a HUGE financial hit for not only the bar, but the employees, which is the sole purpose of this GoFundMe. For a good bunch of us, this is our main/only job. Some of us were uncomfortable at the idea of taking donations, as it can be hard to be on the receiving end of a donation, but allowing community support will help us persevere through this financial hardship, and admitting that it’s okay to ask for help. I am appreciative that before this was a concrete idea, some of our regulars were already talking about wanting to start a GoFundMe for us. Our staff appreciates your support, care, and who you are so much.

I wasn’t sure what to put as a goal amount. I am in charge of payroll at our job, and I decided to go through and calculate how much we make every week all together to help come up with an appropriate goal amount. With part of our pay being tip-based, it fluctuates, but I ran the numbers to find what the weekly amount all of us employees are paid on average in summation, and it came to roughly $6,300 a week that is paid out between 14 employees. At first we thought we would only be closed for a few days, but then upon realizing the damage, realized we would be closed for a few weeks, and then after last night’s further examination, realized we are looking at being closed for at least a month, possibly longer. We hope it’ll be open soon enough, and we are finding out and doing what we can each day! All of these facts and numbers in consideration, mixed with feeling hesitant about setting a goal amount that feels “too big” is what brought me to this goal amount of $12,000. I don’t think any of us have an expectation to hit that, but honestly anything helps. If somehow we got over the $12,000 goal, it gives us more ease being able to maintain our livelihoods over the next month. We know times are tough, and anything that anybody is willing to give will help us stay afloat until we re-open and/or find other avenues to ground ourselves with and make a living in the meantime. The bar fully intends to pay the staff during the shut down, but in the mean-time while the insurance sorts out our loss of income, we could really use the help!
