Relief For UB Student After Severe Car Accident

On Sunday, September 25th, our sister Amaya was traveling back to her dorm at the University of Bridgeport when she hit a bump on the highway, causing her to lose control of the vehicle, flip over, and skid towards the right lane. She became trapped inside the car, which then caught fire. Thankfully, other highway drivers stopped to pull her out to safety.

Upon medical examination, it was found that she sustained a few minor injuries that included a cut inside her ear and a head injury. Thankfully, after multiple internal scans, she did not appear to have any life-threatening injuries.

Amaya is a Naugatuck High School 2022 graduate who graduated a year early due to her academic achievements. During her senior year, she worked multiple jobs to purchase her first vehicle and earlier this month; she began her first year at the University of Bridgeport. While maintaining school and work, Amaya received the Trustee Scholarship at the University of Bridgeport. She traveled back home on the weekends to continue working, to ensure she met any of her financial needs.

As one would imagine, this incident was challenging and devasting for our sister. Currently, she faces many challenges in getting back on her feet. We are looking to utilize any donations towards medical and school expenses and a potential vehicle when she is ready to get back to work.
