Help the Vaughn family pay for recovery.
My name is Lucy Vaughn, and my family and I are raising money to help support us while we are displaced due to severe toxic mold in the places we have lived. In July 2025, we moved out of our apartment in San Clemente because of hazardous mold and improper remediation, which led to serious health issues for all of us, especially my dad, Devon, who was later diagnosed with CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome). We were displaced until October 2025, when we moved into an apartment in Dana Point, only to discover that it also had toxic mold.
During this time, our family was scattered while we tried to figure out what to do next. Devon could not tolerate most indoor environments for long periods without triggering serious health complications, which is common with CIRS recovery. At times my brother, Ezra, slept at friends’ homes in Orange or Santa Ana while still going to school in San Clemente, and I stayed with friends or at the Dana Point apartment because I was the only one who was not reacting to the mold at the time. After personal testing, we learned there were multiple species of toxic mold in the home, confirming what Devon and Ezra had been reacting to.
Since December, we have been doing everything we can to stay together in one place, but we need very specific housing conditions because of our health. Right now, we are living in Airbnbs while we search for a permanent home that meets our medical needs. Although everyone is slowly improving, we have drained our savings on temporary housing, gas for constant driving, doctors, blood work, and daily essentials, all while still paying rent on the Dana Point apartment so we do not get an eviction on our record.
This fundraiser will help us cover the cost of safe temporary housing until we can secure a permanent solution, medical care and testing for CIRS and mold-related illness, and basics like food, gas, and other daily essentials. Any amount you are able to give is an incredible blessing and helps relieve a huge burden from our family. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page and keeping us in your prayers means more to us than you know.
