Relief for the industry workers of Café 210 West
Hello,
Im the current GM at Café 210 West in State College, PA. It’s a tough time throughout the world right now. Even the happiest of valleys are feeling the financial burden. I’ve been at café for 13 years now. Even though some employees stay longer than others everyone that comes through our doors is family. Maybe the sister you couldn’t live without or the annoying little cousin you wish stayed home. We are all family. I met my husband and some of my lifelong friends at Café. I also met the woman who taught me everything I know about this industry, Cindy!
Working in a restaurant takes team work. Café was gearing up for our busiest season of the year, 55 Days. I was about to start scheduling my servers more hours than they wanted. They would all definitely hate each other at some point during their shift but then be so happy to close up and hangout after the shift at a late night. Then the shutdown happened. Now some of my employees are wondering how they are going to pay rent.
Since I know some of my family is struggling right now I thought I’d try to help them out. My goal would be to try and help all my full time tipped employees pay bills. Even if it’s just everyone’s phone bill. (I know how much they try and be on them at work so I know they can’t live without them during this) So if you were ever served a drink at Café, or knows what it’s like to live off of tips help out by donating whatever you can. Even if this only ends up being enough for a few shared skillet fries once we can all be together again it will make their day I’m sure.
To all industry workers out there. We’re thinking of you too. Stay safe and sanitized!
