My friends, Matt and Beth, have fought through an incredibly difficult year, and I have watched them suffer through multiple hardships, always praying through and doing their best to remain positive. Beth is one of my strongest friends, always willing to help another, always ready to listen and pray for me, and she's been a rock through some of my toughest times. I'm starting a GoFundMe to help offset the life altering loss of income and added expenses they've dealt with in the past year. Beth does not often ask for help, but has allowed me to share their recent events.
In February 2025, Beth’s company unexpectedly announced it was closing. With a five month warning, they cut back as much as possible while she sought job opportunities. Her job ended in early July, she sent over 100 applications and resumes out with no response, and six weeks later Matt unexpectedly lost his job. They resorted to living off savings to keep up with the basics of mortgage, utilities and food.
With the loss of her job, they also lost their health insurance, and the medical company for Matt's CPAP machine repossessed the equipment.
By November, their savings had been fully depleted, but both eventually secured new jobs and began the slow process of rebuilding. For the first time in months, it seemed like stability might finally be within reach.
Then Matt suffered a heart attack and required a stent placement. The past seven weeks have been filled with hospital stays, follow-up appointments, and new daily medications. He has been entirely without income, which normally provides the majority of the household support. There is still no medical clearance for him to return to work.
Matt still faces lingering health challenges (severe nosebleeds, low blood pressure, ear infections, kidney stones), requiring doctor visits and medications. Even once Matt is cleared by his cardiologist, he will still need to pass a DOT physical required for his job as a truck driver — an out-of-pocket expense that is essential before he can return to work.
Praises:
- Matt is recovering from multiple medical events and all signs point to positive
- A Friend blessed them with a new tire after a blowout
- Beth has a second job lined up that will hopefully start soon
- Medical insurance has covered a great amount of new expenses
- Friends and Family praying
Immediate needs:
- Mortgage and utilities that fell behind
- Medical bills and copays
- Prescription costs
- Replacement of the necessary CPAP machine
- Additional car maintenance necessary to keep their vehicle reliable
Every donation — no matter the amount — helps relieve the financial pressure so Matt can focus fully on healing and they can rebuild without falling further behind.
If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this campaign and keeping them in your prayers.
