Hey everyone, my name is Malaika and I'm a Registered Nurse and proud Jamaican. Watching the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa has been heartbreaking. Families have lost homes, belongings, and even their sense of safety. Seeing my beautiful island—the place that shaped me—in this state hits close to home.

Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica as a devastating Category 5 storm, leaving many communities without power, infrastructure severely damaged, and thousands needing basic relief.

In the midst of this crisis, we want to step in with meaningful support.

As a nurse and someone who cares deeply about community, I’m launching this fundraiser to raise money to purchase plates, non-perishable food items, sheets, towels, bedding, and other basic supplies which are urgently needed in affected areas of Jamaica.

We want to make sure when help arrives, it’s practical, needed, and directly helps people rebuild comfort and dignity.

Where the funds go & how they’ll be used

Bulk purchase of durable plates, bowls, and utensils to replace lost/damaged kitchenware
Non-perishable food (rice, beans, canned goods) for families who may have lost their homes or access to regular stores
Bedding sets, new towels, and sheets for households whose linens were destroyed or soiled by floods/traffic
Transport & logistics (ensuring items actually reach the impacted communities in Jamaica)
We will document purchases (photos of items, receipts) and share updates on distribution via social media.

All Types of Donations Are Welcomed
If you are local or prefer to donate items instead of money:
We are accepting clothes (adults & children), non-perishable food, toiletries, diapers, feminine hygiene products, and other care items
Money helps us purchase in bulk and ship items faster, but any contribution is deeply appreciated.

Your impact

Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference.
$25 could buy a bedding set and towel for one family
$50 could supply plates + food supplies for two families
$100+ could cover a “relief kit” for a small households

By donating, you are directly helping real people regain comfort, basic home essentials, and hope in a time of crisis.
