Relief for Asheville Potters: A Hub for Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Kelsey Schissel, a ceramic artist and owner of Plays in Mud Pottery in Asheville, NC. Hurricane Helene recently devastated WNC, destroying many artist studios, including those of local potters who have lost their space and equipment.

I’m raising funds to transform my studio into a Pottery Relief Hub where displaced potters can work without the burden of upfront costs. My fully equipped studio can accommodate 5–8 additional artists, providing access to wheels, kilns, and other essential equipment. However, each artist will need clay, glaze materials, and basic supplies to get back on their feet.

The funds will cover all material costs and help offset the increased utility and overhead expenses. There will be no cost to any potter who works in this studio. Additionally, I will offer these potters an opportunity to sell their work in my gallery with 75% of the sales going to them, further helping them to regain financial stability.

Your support will ensure that these talented artists can continue their craft and rebuild their livelihoods. Thank you for helping keep handmade pottery alive in Asheville!
