We are raising funds to bring a vibrant public art project to Rego Park, Queens. The building at Sinal Inc. Mini Mart—97-02 Queens Boulevard and 64th Road—features a large side wall that is highly visible from Queens Boulevard. We are able to pursue this multifaceted art project, thanks to the generosity of Sinal Inc. Mini Mart for allowing the space.
Our vision is to beautify and celebrate our neighborhood by creating a community mural that reflects the creativity, history, culture, and pride of Rego Park. This exciting project will be led by three talented professional artists, Susan Varo, Alex Lopez, and Danna Balassyano, who are generously contributing their expertise, vision, and countless hours to create a lasting artistic landmark for our community. The project managers are myself, Carmen Montijo, Author, Legal Assistant and a creative visionary living in Rego Park, and Michael Perlman, Author, historian and preservationist from Forest Hills who is deeply involved in Rego Park.
The mural may feature a combination of durable DiBond panels provided by Noble Signs along with hand-painted wall art, creating a unique installation designed to inspire residents and visitors for years to come. The artwork will celebrate Rego Park’s rich history, architecture, culture, trees, and flowers.
Your donation will help cover DiBond panels and mounting materials, professional-grade paints and supplies, surface preparation and protective coatings, equipment and installation costs, fair compensation for the artists' time, experience, and creative contributions, and materials for a community painting day. We invite neighbors, families, and local businesses to support this project and help us create a beautiful, lasting landmark for Rego Park. We are also welcoming the donation of supplies.
