Cob Oven Baking and Planting in Kenya
Donation protected
Thank you for supporting my time in Kenya, Africa. I lived among the village people and made lifelong friends as we shared life-changing experiences. I taught about 25 Asembo village families to plant pole beans, peas, beets, greens, squash, gourds and other vegetables using no-till gardening, composting, and spreading cardboard to prevent weeds. We planted fields of corn and beans. The rainy season began just as I arrived and our seeds spouted while I was there. I brought home crafts made by the mothers and visited the schools. Your contributions made it possible to help struggling families. The families were gracious, grateful, and willing to learn. The work has just begun. I introduced the concept of using Cob from local resources of clay, straw and sand to build or repair homes. Two young men are building a Cob oven to bake Kenyan biscuits and cookies to support their families. Both men have two young children. In time the men will teach other families and entrepreneurship in the village will provide options to feed families even in times of drought. Funds are needed for more seeds, baking supplies, materials to build a table and workspace, straw, nails, packaging bags, fuel, the baking health inspection fee, crates to hold the products and much more. Please continue to support the work we all began in this precious Asembo Village. Thank you so much Ellen and my new friends, Victor and Kevin
