Get us Working!
[We have hidden faces for the safety of our Afghan friends. Terrorists are cruel.]
S. and his family fled for their safety, enduring the chaos of the Kabul airport. They are making their home in the Washington, D.C. area. They want to work, to become self-sufficient here. The 3 working adults have jobs, though they work nights when public transportation is limited and particularly risky for young women. Aside from work, there are medical appointments, interviews for better jobs, and other needs for a van that will hold most of the family. They insist on paying the part of the van costs, though they would appreciate your assistance. They have shown resilience and an amazingly positive outlook despite their hardships. Some months, they can’t even pay all of their rent. But they are together. They finally have slightly better jobs and and we know they are going to succeed. They just need a little help. The first couple years as a refugee are really hard.
The family’s Afghan home has been ransacked and burned. They are not safe there and are settling in here. They all have green cards and are applying for US citizenship, and one is a US citizen.
We hope that you can help this wonderful family by giving them a hand—and a donation to literally get them on their way.
