Keep It Stepping: Youth Hub for Young People of Redbridge

Hi, my name is Keiron James, I am a Substance misuse worker for Via Redbridge, and I’m raising funds to create a Youth Hub in Redbridge for young people currently involved with Youth Offending Services and Children’s Services.

This cause is deeply important to me because I’ve seen firsthand how quickly young lives can change when they’re given the right environment, guidance, and opportunities. Too often, these young people are defined by their circumstances rather than their potential. I believe that early intervention, positive spaces, and real-world pathways can break cycles and help young people build better futures.

Many young people in Redbridge face barriers such as limited access to safe spaces, education, positive role models, and career guidance. Without support, this can increase the risk of disengagement, exploitation, and reoffending. What’s often missing isn’t ability — it’s opportunity.

The Youth Hub aims to change that. It will be a safe, welcoming space where young people can learn, grow, and feel supported. The hub will deliver educational and life-skills workshops covering:

Substance misuse, Child criminal exploitation & Healthy relationships. Alongside this, the hub will provide employability and career pathway workshops, led by professionals from trade, retail, beauty, fitness, and sports backgrounds. These sessions will include CV building, interview preparation, and role-play interviews, helping young people gain confidence, exposure, and practical skills for the workforce.

The space will also include:

A gaming and tech station (PS5 & PC) to engage young people and inspire interest in coding and game development

A chill-out area to support wellbeing, emotional regulation, and consistent attendance

Gym and fitness equipment (not excessive) to deliver PT-led fitness sessions and introduce pathways into personal training, sports massage, football, and boxing

Funds raised will be used to:

Secure and set up the youth hub space

Purchase educational, fitness, and gaming equipment

Fund qualified professionals and workshop facilitators

Deliver structured programmes that support education, wellbeing, and employment readiness

I do not think £200-£500 will cover the dream I have, however we need to start somewhere, I'm willing to get the gears turning with the little we might have!

To support this fundraiser, I’m also taking on a personal challenge on Thursday 5th March 2026— a 9-mile charity walk from Romford Station to Stratford Station, which typically takes around 3 hours on foot. This walk means a lot to me, as I’m currently recovering from knee injuries, so this isn’t about speed — it’s about resilience, determination, and showing up even when things feel uncomfortable (my knees have already lodged a formal complaint).

More importantly, this walk is a message to the young people we support: setbacks don’t define you — how you respond does. Progress isn’t about being perfect; it’s about taking the next step, even when it’s hard.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps create a space that protects, educates, and empowers young people in Redbridge. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is just as valuable.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting a project built on opportunity, belief, and brighter futures.
