Beyond the Block NYC’s mission is to provide inner-city youth with academic support, mentoring, and enrichment activities, experiences and opportunities "beyond the block” in hopes of reducing violence and promoting positive youth development.
The “block” is a neighborhood staple. It’s a place where people go to see their long-time friends, get their favorite food, learn from elders, or even experience trauma. At BTB, we want adolescents to experience the best of what the “block” has to offer while cultivating the skills needed to help manage the daily challenges and trauma that they might experience while on "the block".
Our Goals
- To provide a safe space for youth to engage in recreational activities.
- To reduce (gun) violence, primarily between youth.
- To provide youth with free programs and services such as basketball, cheerleading, resume building, and mentoring.
- To alleviate the effects of poverty by offering free to low-cost services, counseling, and psycho-education workshops.
- To raise the graduation rate, ensure that youth are college/trade school ready.
With your support and donations, we can provide children and adolescents with life-changing experiences. YOUR contributions will allow us to build our recreational center in which we will offer educational workshops, community events, recreational sports and activities.
