RecoveryPark's Recovery

Tax deductible

Our Story:

RecoveryPark exists to create jobs for people with barriers to employment. We achieve this goal by launching food-based businesses on Detroit's east side. In addition to providing living wage jobs with full health benefits, we diligently provide social supports for those in our network including housing, transportation, substance abuse, basic needs, and so much more.

Of the individuals who have come in and out of RecoveryPark who have experienced the criminal justice system firsthand, not a single client has returned to prison. Our model works, and the community sees our impact. We are creating a model in Detroit that can truly transform the lives of those who are often the hardest to employ.

On Wednesday, July 10th, RecoveryPark was robbed of the equipment we use to care for the 105 acres we've agreed to maintain in the City of Detroit. We are devastated by the loss of over $25,000 worth of lawn and land maintenance equipment, but even more disappointed that in such a tight-knit community, we experienced this loss when we have worked hard alongside the neighborhood to maintain safe and sound lots.

Not only did we lose our equipment, but we were also robbed of personal tools belonging to staff and associates affiliated with RecoveryPark who were generous enough to lend them in our time of need.

While we are in the process of reviewing security footage, working with local law enforcement, and communicating with neighbors, we must still honor our agreement with the city to mow and maintain these lots. We are reaching out to our community for some emergency support funds in order to continue doing so.

From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate any donation you can spare. Despite these challenges, we are more motivated than ever to continue being great stewards of our neighborhood, and continue creating jobs for people with barriers to employment. Our ability to raise outside funds for this loss allows us to continue devoting resources to job creation and providing imperative social services to Detroiters.

If you are interested in making a donation of a certain piece of equipment, please email [email redacted] and we will send you descriptions/SKUs of items lost during this incident.

Thank you for your support!
