Running is my escape, my lifeline, my therapy, and my freedom. Let's help others find theirs. -Amber, Founder of Recovery Road Runners Nonprofit Organization

About Me:
Hi, I’m Amber, Founder and President of Recovery Road Runners (RRR) and a sober mom of 2 fun-loving little boys. My passion for running began at an early age. At just 14, I laced up my shoes for the first time when I joined the high school cross country team, unaware that I was also embarking on a dangerous path of addiction. For nearly two decades, I juggled a seemingly perfect existence— a successful 2nd grade teacher and dedicated marathon runner — while secretly battling the demons of daily binge drinking.

Becoming a parent was a pivotal time in my life. The realization that I was risking my children's wellbeing was a harsh wake-up call for me. With a heavy heart and unwavering determination, I chose sobriety. That courageous decision transformed my life, and now I'm committed to helping others break free from the grips of addiction.

I just celebrated 4 years of freedom in sobriety. At the age of 42, I'm in the best shape of my life, running an average of 50 miles a week. In 2023, I coached myself to run new personal bests in the marathon (3hrs 19mins) and half marathon (1hr 33mins).

To fuel my journey and amplify our mission, I’m taking on an extraordinary challenge: the NorCal Backyard Ultra. My goal is to run 100 miles in 24 hours, pushing my physical and mental limits to new heights. Every mile I conquer brings us closer to our shared vision of a world free from addiction.
