Helping Shayla recover from home invasion & fire
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brea and I’m fundraising for my sister Shayla, who was a victim of a terrifying crime. In the early morning of August 24th, Shayla was awakened when she heard an unusual sound. She checked her home cameras on her cell phone and saw a vehicle in her front yard pulled up to her front porch steps. Confused about what she was seeing, she quickly got dressed and went downstairs. She discovered a stranger loading her brand new tv (in the box) into the back of his car. She saw an axe on her porch and picked it up immediately. The criminal screamed at her threatening her life and that he would return with others and “it will be worse next time”. After the criminal had driven off, while on the phone with 911, Shayla noticed the smell of something burning. That is when she discovered that this man had also started a fire in her home. He had attempted to burn her house down while she was in it. Her new stove was pulled out away from the wall and lit with all four burners on high, with papers and plastic piled on top. We are all very thankful that Shayla was not physically harmed, the fire was put out, and the criminal was quickly caught and arrested. Unfortunately, this criminal caused significant damage to Shayla’s home and property with his axe and the fire. He apparently used his axe to break down the doors to her garage, her two vehicles, and her home. Her new stove that she was very excited to buy is now destroyed and there is additional damage from the fire and smoke. As a responsible home and vehicle owner, she does of course have insurance, but with deductibles this will all be quite costly to repair and recover from. No one deserves to have something like this happen to them. Shayla has worked hard for what she has. She is not someone who ever asks for help, but is the type of person who will drop everything to help others. Please help if you can!
