Recover and Replace My Home

I got the idea of living in a motor home about a year and a half ago. I was scrolling through Facebook Market Place, and I saw that folks were selling RVs that were almost as big as my apartment. They cost a few thousand dollars but that was just for the initial investment. Once that had been paid then I would own my own home, free and clear. I could save about $1500 each month if I gave up my one-bedroom apartment and moved into one of these motor homes. Unfortunately, the initial cost was an insurmountable barrier. I did not have the cash to cover the cost of the RV. I reached out to a couple of lenders to see about taking out a loan. But my monthly income wasn’t enough to offset the monthly payments. No one would loan me the money. So, I spent the next 18 months scrolling through Facebook Market Place in the hopes of finding a deal, and eventually I did.
Last month I found a guy selling his RV for just $2500. I had managed to save a few hundred dollars and if I used my SSI payment to make up the difference then that would put me within striking distance of the purchase. I reached out to the guy and met him to check out the RV. When I got there, I could not believe what I saw. The RV was in great shape. It started right up and was clearly a good deal. Just then the guy said he’d sell it for $1800. Well, my daddy didn’t raise no dummy, I committed to buying the motor home on the spot. When I got home, I sent my landlord a 30-day notice informing him of my plans to vacate my apartment and I began packing and moving my stuff into a friend’s basement. When I got my July Social Security payment I reached out to the seller and made plans to complete the purchase. I spent the next 2 weeks clearing out my apartment and moving my stuff into storage. I needed to be out of my apartment by July 15th. The idea was to move all the stuff that I won’t need for now into storage and then move my clothes, kitchenware, and personal effects directly into the RV once everything else had been moved.
Then, on the afternoon, of Sunday, July 13th, I had just finished loading the last of my stuff into storage and was on my way back to start loading the stuff I was going to need into the RV when my plan exploded and blew up in my face. When I pulled up to my apartment the RV was gone. At first, I thought that the cops had towed it. But a neighbor told me that he was approached by a man who claimed that he was the owner of the RV and that a buddy of his was on his way with a tow truck to get it off the street. My heart sank. I realized that I was in serious trouble. I suspected that the motor home had been stolen, and that me and Bailey had no place to live. My apartment was cleared out and I couldn’t go back and my RV was gone and we had nowhere else to go. Naturally I called the police and filed a report. They confirmed that they did not tow the RV. Thankfully, a friend of mine is letting me and Bailey stay with her, but this is strictly temporary.
I’ve started this GoFundMe campaign to ask you for your help. Many of you have told me to ask if I needed anything. Well, now I’m asking. It will take me months to raise the money I need to replace the motor home. Months that me and Bailey don’t have. So please donate to this GoFundMe campaign and help me to recover my financial independence and replace my RV.
