We are a group of veterans and supporters raising funds to reunite soldiers who served together at Johnston Atoll in 1993 and 1994, a remote Pacific outpost where we faced unique and extremely hazardous conditions. During our service, we were stationed on Johnston Atoll working directly with the Chemical Agent Disposal System (JACADS), tasked with destroying deadly chemical weapons like Sarin and VX nerve gas among others. We were also exposed to lingering radiation from nuclear tests conducted there decades earlier, including plutonium contamination from Operation Dominic in 1962 from Nuclear testing. These exposures have left a lasting impact—some of us are now disabled, battling illnesses like cancer, Parkinson’s and a litany of other issues and we’ve lost brothers and sisters to these silent wounds of service.
On May 23, 2025, we want to gather at Fenway Park in Boston for a reunion to honor our shared history, remember those we’ve lost, and support each other as a community. We’re aiming to raise $5,000 to reserve a suite at the Red Sox stadium, covering the costs for veterans who face steep travel and lodging expenses due to limited mobility and financial strain. This event isn’t just a game, it’s a chance to heal, reconnect, and celebrate our resilience.
The suite will provide a comfortable, accessible space for up to 15 veterans to come together, many traveling from across the country. Every dollar will go toward making this reunion possible so we can share stories, pay tribute to our fallen, and find strength in each other.
Please contribute what you can and share our story. Your support will help us turn this dream into a reality and give us a day to stand together again, as we did on that distant atoll. Thank you for honoring our service and sacrifice.
**Why This Matters:**
- **Health Legacy:** Many Johnston Atoll veterans suffer from disabilities or illnesses linked to chemical and radiation exposure, with limited recognition or support.
- **Community:** This reunion is a rare chance to reunite a group scattered by time and distance, offering emotional support and closure.
- **Memorial:** We would like to dedicate this day to those who’ve passed, ensuring their sacrifices aren’t forgotten.
