Después de unos meses difíciles debido al diagnóstico de cáncer, Kevin finalmente comenzó la quimioterapia. Despuse de pasar un fin de semana en urgencias médicas, debido a los efectos secundarios de la quimioterapia, agentes de I.C.E. llevaron a Kevin a un centro de detención en Rhode Island.
En la madrugada del 17 de marzo de 2025, I.C.E. llegó a la puerta de la casa de Kevin y los agentes de I.C.E. exigiendo que los dejaran entrar o que salieran. Los agentes de I.C.E. se llevaron a su padre y está a la espera de su deportación.
Kevin, cuya autorización de trabajo fue aprobada y ahora trabaja a tiempo completo, fue sacado a rastras del carro de su madre (después de que I.C.E. le rompiera la ventanilla), lo ultrajaron agresivamente y lo inmovilizaron contra el suelo. Varios agentes de I.C.E. lo sujetaron contra el pavimento, presionando su cara contra él.
La familia Florez está comprensiblemente devastada, pero no permitirá que este atroz error judicial pase sin que nos unamos para conseguir la libertad de Kevin y el tratamiento que necesita para su lucha contra el cáncer.

After a difficult few months since being diagnosed with cancer, Kevin Florez was finally able to start chemotherapy. Kevin spent the weekend in urgent care due to the side effects, and upon returning home, Kevin was taken to a detention facility in Rhode
Island by ICE operatives.
In the early morning of March 17th , ICE came to Kevin and his father's door demanding they be let in. His father was taken by ICE and is currently awaiting deportation.
Kevin, who is a full-time worker on an approved work authorization, was dragged out of his mother’s car from a broken window, aggressively manhandled, and pinned to the ground. Multiple ICE officials held him down while pushing Kevin’s face into the
pavement.
The Florez family is understandably devastated but will not allow this heinous miscarriage of justice to go uncontested. They are asking everyone to come together and get Kevin his freedom as well as the lifesaving treatment he needs to battle cancer.
