Now here is why Judge Margolis should be recalled

Jesse C. Margolis can NOT be trusted as a judge. Those words are from a highly experienced lawyer who has been in front of Judge Margolis many times representing clients. That lawyer was not willing to say more, but he did not have to.
It is apparent to the members of our committee, and will almost certainly be just as apparent to you if you watch the above video, that Jesse Margolis is a serious liability as a judge for the people in Coos and Curry Counties because he is both incompetent and dishonest.
The appellate courts have corrected him dozens of times for things like overlooking evidence and making rulings that are not based on the evidence.
We also have reports about him from litigants and social workers, and none of it is good.
What is really bad, however, is that during our two year investigation we have found at least one case in which Judge Margolis lied to lawyers rather than admit he had once again misquoted some of the evidence in a case and entirely overlooked other evidence. There is no other reasonable explanation; Judge Margolis told a lie to avoid doing his job. (Please see the video.)
False in one, false in all
That is a Latin maxim meaning that a person who lies about one thing is just as likely to lie about another thing, and therefore can not be trusted. (In Latin it is "Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus".)
Based on our two year investigation we believe Judge Margolis does not care about the truth or the law; what he does care about is collecting his $197,800 annual salary while doing as little as possible to get it.
The problem with that is that Jesse Margolis has been handed extraordinary powers and he has often used them carelessly, resulting in unnecessary harm to ordinary citizens.
Shown below are just three reports (out of many!) from people Judge Margolis harmed.

Judge Margolis sent my innocent 16 yr old away for one year (This report was verified by our committee.)
I'm a working mom & this devastated our family. When my daughter was 16 she was with other kids who were drinking, but she wasn't. Didn't matter to the cops, they were all arrested & she was released in about 20 minutes. I took her straight to hospital for an alcohol blood test. It came back ZERO ALCOHOL. Judge Margolis refused to accept it and took the cops word she was drinking. So he orders her to a rehab place. She missed me & came home without permission, then voluntarily turned herself in. Then Judge Margolis sent her away to a facility in Albany for a FULL YEAR because she "disobeyed" him. Please God, don't let him do that to anyone else.
Judge Margolis turned my 13 year old girl into a felon (This report was verified by our committee.)
My 13 year old daughter got in trouble with two older boys who stole a car. She got in the back & they went for a joy ride. All 3 got caught & that was a good thing—she shouldn’t have done that. But she did not steal the car & she didn’t hurt anyone. In court Judge Margolis found her guilty of a felony. WHY??? That does not do anyone ANY good at all. And now my beautiful young daughter is branded as a FELON because we could not afford an appeal. :(
Judge Margolis violated my rights as a property owner and landlord (This report was verified by our committee.)
I had a person move into my mobile home park who was not an authorized tenant. I gave him a couple of warnings letting him know he had to move out but he ignored me so I served him with an eviction prepared by the same attorney I use for rental properties I own in other counties. The tenant ignored the eviction notice too so we ended up in court. Judge Margolis got the case and he refused to enforce the eviction. My out-of-town lawyer was shocked; Judge Margolis had obviously substituted his own whims instead of protecting me by enforcing the law. That violated my rights and it was clear I couldn’t trust Judge Margolis to protect my rights if that happened again. So I sold that park and took my business elsewhere.

18 month prison sentence for no helmet on disability scooter
Shown just below are links to articles about a woman who was sentenced by Judge Margolis for a felony with up to 18 months in prison (she was let out on probation) after she was stopped for riding her disability scooter without a helmet. (Note: That lady asked us not to use her name. Please respect her privacy.)

Here is how you can help
(1) Sign the recall petition, or better yet collect a few signatures for the recall, including yours.
And by the way teens under 18 can collect signatures on the recall petition. They of course can't sign it as a voter but they can sign to certify the petition if they were the ones who collected the signatures.

(3) Donate a little money - and remember if you do that we must get your full name, a mailing address and your occupation. We are otherwise required to return the money to you.
Money raised will be used to pay back a loan we took out to send out over 20,000 first class mailers to voters, and for a few other basic expenses such as bookkeeping, printing and creation of the above video.
We can't do this alone. We need to collect about 7,000 signatures. So please consider collecting a few signatures for us. Even if you only get two or three signatures, plus yours, that will help.

An important fact
Margolis was first elected as a judge as a write-in candidate on just 30 days notice when Judge Lichtig died in a vehicle accident and he was never properly vetted for his job.

Dear Sir:
This letter is advance notice that a petition is being launched to have you recalled as a Curry County Circuit Court judge. One of many concerns is that you have a history of missing or overlooking dispositive case evidence. Moreover you have reportedly been unwilling to admit such errors when they’re brought to your attention.
It is of course more important for a judge to be honest, as opposed to always being right. You do not seem to have learned that lesson, despite the numerous times you have been overruled on appeal.
What is worse, however, is deliberate dishonesty to “cover up” a mistake instead of forthrightly admitting it, and it appears from our research you have done that too.
The above-stated problems are exacerbated by reports that you like to “rule from the bench” (those are your own words) and you therefore make very quick judicial decisions. As a result you miss or overlook evidence because you’ve already determined what your ruling will be without thinking it through.
That kind of prejudicial judicial behavior causes improper results that have to be corrected on appeal.
Our other concerns include but are not limited to the fact that you make children into felons far more often than most judges in Oregon, you are unreasonably harsh with families and you’re arrogant and deliberately unkind to people representing themselves without a lawyer.
The bottom line is that we do NOT trust you as a judge.
It is our considered opinion that the voters in Coos County and in Curry County shouldn’t trust you either; you should be recalled and we are facilitating your recall. You’ll have a fair opportunity to respond then the people can vote.
