Rebuilding the Williams' Porch: A Community Effort

Kingston, NY is buzzing with growth and development, and we're excited to see it! But amidst the new construction, there's a long-standing home filled with love that needs a little TLC.

Two beloved members of our community, Mr. and Mrs. Williams, fondly known as Poppop and Ganna, have been pillars of our community for many years, known for their loving and kind spirits. The Williams' home has been a haven for so many of us, a place where we've found support, a listening ear, and a warm welcome. Tragically, the Williams family experienced the loss of two of their children in March and June of last year 2023, which has added to the challenges they are facing. Mr. Williams dedicated over 40 years of service to the state, while Mrs. Williams provided daycare for over 30 years, often caring for children for free. Their selfless contributions have touched the lives of many in our community and beyond. Now it's our time to give back.

Their front porch, once a symbol of family gatherings and shared moments, has now become a safety hazard for the community elders that live there. We are coming together to rebuild it in order to create a safe and welcoming space for this family, friends, and neighbors.

We are thrilled that the young people of Ulster YouthBuild have joined us to contribute their labor and skills, and Herzog's Lumberyard, with the incredible generosity of Mr. Brad Jordan, has agreed to donate 1/3 of the materials needed! Radio Kingston has also stepped up to make a generous contribution to the project as well as a number of other community members, thank you all so much!

We have broken ground on this project with a fantastic team of about 15 people working hard but we need your help raising money to fund the remaining $2500 needed to complete the porch!
