My name is Deneeka, I am 21 years old and live in the UK, but my family and home roots are in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. I’ve visited almost every year since I was about 6/7 and my community in Slipe/Cataboo near Black River and Santa Cruz has been deeply affected by Hurricane Melissa.

The hurricane has destroyed homes, schools, markets and businesses. Many families are now displaced. My own family homes have lost their roofs, including my grandmother’s, auntie’s and our own. Unfortunately, this is the reality for the majority of residents in the area.

I am raising funds to help rebuild homes and provide essential materials such as roofing supplies, timber, nails and basic necessities for families who have lost everything.

I will be working directly with family members in St Elizabeth to ensure all funds are used transparently and shared with those in need. Updates will be provided throughout this process.

Any support — no matter how small — will help families rebuild and recover. Thank you for standing with us.
