My name is Edna Thamm. I am a teacher, by profession and I have witnessed the magic that happens when a child learns to read. As a volunteer Friend with the Child Peace Initiative in Kenya, I want to share a story that is very close to my heart. It is the story of Noosukuro Primary School in Samburu.

Until recently, our school was a place filled with the sounds of learning and laughter for 80 eager children. Then, the water from Lake Baringo came. It was slow, it was relentless, and it swallowed / submerged the children’s place of learning. Their classrooms, their desks, their books were lost to the water.

As a teacher, I see every single day how education transforms lives. These 80 children have dreams. They dream of becoming doctors, teachers, and engineers. But without a school, their dreams are being replaced by a harsh reality. They now face dangerously long walks to other schools, a journey that often forces them to drop out. Worse, they face the risks of child labor, early marriage, and cattle rustling. We cannot let this be their future.

The community will provide a piece of land which is on higher ground to rebuild the school. Now, we need your help to build upon it.

This is how your donation will create change:

· Classrooms and Foundation: We will build three solid, weatherproof classrooms on our land.

· Learning Materials: We will provide books, notebooks, and essential supplies for all 80 children.

· School Furniture: We will equip the classrooms with desks, benches, and blackboards.

· Basic Sanitation: We will construct simple washrooms and toilets for the children's health and dignity.
