I’m writing to shed light on a heart-wrenching tragedy that has befallen the communities in Pakistan, specifically in the wake of an incident that has left us all deeply shaken. The very places of worship that symbolise unity, peace, and spiritual solace have been reduced to ashes, and the lives of countless families have been shattered beyond measure. Our hearts ache for those who have lost not only their homes but also their sense of security and belonging.

The incident stems from the misuse of blasphemy laws, a mechanism intended to protect religious sentiments, twisted into a tool of hatred and personal vendetta. Across oceans, in Pakistan, the misuse of religious power for personal gain and revenge has had dire consequences for innocent lives thousands of miles away. The aftermath has left communities in Jaranwalla without shelter, without livelihoods, and without the basic essentials needed for survival.

Imagine the trauma of waking up to find your place of worship, your sanctuary, reduced to charred remains. Picture the anguish of families, huddled together amidst the ruins of their homes, desperately seeking solace amid the ruins of their lives. This is not a story of a distant land; this is a tale of our shared humanity, a call to action that transcends borders and reminds us of our duty to uplift those in need.

But in the face of this devastation, we find an opportunity to extend a hand of compassion and solidarity. This fundraiser aims not only to provide immediate relief in the form of daily necessities, but also to contribute to the long-term journey of rebuilding lives, homes, and communities. Our donations will help families regain their footing, stand tall again, and rebuild the fabric of their existence.

Please know that we are deeply committed to this cause, and I want to let you know that my sister, who is currently in Bible college in the USA, and I will be personally traveling to Pakistan. Our aim is to provide aid directly to the affected communities and work closely with community leaders and government officials to develop a comprehensive plan that addresses the urgent needs as well as the long term needs of these communities in order to facilitate their recovery.

I want to emphasise that none of the funds raised will be allocated to cover our travel expenses. Every single dollar that is contributed will be dedicated entirely to fulfilling the needs of the communities that have suffered. We are in close collaboration with our churches, working tirelessly to establish a sustainable and long-term solution for these communities. Additionally, we are urging the government of Pakistan to implement measures that prevent the misuse of these laws, ensuring that such tragedies are never repeated.
