"I'm Tahani Salem, 35 years old, from Gaza. I'm a mother of four children: Monther Jana, Hala, and Azzaddin. We used to live a peaceful and beautiful life in our home. However, during the first week of the war, we were displaced to the southern Gaza Strip, specifically to the Nusairat area, leaving behind everything beautiful. Little did I know that this displacement would prevent us from returning to our home until this day.
I was working as a secretary in a school before the war. I loved my job very much and was dedicated and hardworking. I used to assist my colleagues and the students of my school, and I won many awards. I aspired to continue my education and obtain a bachelor's degree. I hesitated a lot before joining this campaign throughout the 5 months of the war on the hope that this cursed war on Gaza would end, but so far I have not found an alternative due to my inability to afford the necessary travel expenses to leave Gaza.
My husband is sick, suffering from high blood pressure. We are now suffering the hardship of life due to the lack of essential needs and the absence of medication for my sick husband. Everything we obtain is very difficult, even the water is contaminated, not to mention the extreme fear we suffer from due to random shelling and rockets. The situation is extremely difficult, unbearable even. We used to live in the northern Gaza Strip in 5 residential apartments where my husband's brothers and his family lived, and we were very safe and secure.
My sons, Mondher, Jenna, and Hala Azzedine, are children who love life, studying, and playing. They have been deprived of their basic rights in life and now lead harsh lives. They spend their time helping their father fetch water and standing in line to wait for their turn to get bread, spending hours walking distances beyond their capabilities.
Mondher, my eldest son, loves sports, especially football, and I always encouraged him in that. Now, he's lost his ambition and zest for life. He helps us in bringing the basic necessities. Help us achieve his dream of becoming a football player.
On October 13, 2023, we received the news of our house being bombed and completely destroyed. It was like a lightning bolt, as our home held our memories, dreams, and happiness. We worked tirelessly to acquire it, but it was demolished by the cursed rockets of war, leaving us homeless. They destroyed everything.
Now we are in tents Rafah city in a crowded area filled with displaced people, in a tragic situation we never imagined we would live in. Everything here is exhausting; life is so hard in this brutal war and genocide we civilians are suffering from. We live in constant fear, loss, insecurity, and the inability to provide the most basic necessities of life due to their exorbitant cost. We have nothing.
Now the area of Rafah is going to be evacuated, and we don't know where to go.
Please help us escape and save our lives and the lives of our children . We love life, and your support, which will change our lives, is greatly appreciated. We ask for your assistance in sharing our story with your friends on social media to expand our reach and achieve our goals.
help my family get out Gaza.
