Hello, my name is Daniela Thao. I'm creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
On Feb 26th, 2026, at 10 pm, their lives changed in an instant. A fire broke out in their home, and within minutes, everything they had worked so hard for was gone. While we are beyond grateful that everyone made it out safely, the damage to their home and belongings has been devastating.
As parents of five children, this has been especially heartbreaking. Their kids lost their bedrooms, their clothes, their toys, their school supplies—the spaces where they felt safe and secure. Watching them try to process losing their home has been one of the hardest parts of this experience.
The fire has also left the childrens deeply shaken and traumatized. The sense of security they once felt in their own home has been taken from them and helping them emotionally recover is just as important as rebuilding the physical structure.
Even areas that weren’t directly touched by flames have been severely impacted by smoke damage. Thick smoke spread throughout the house, leaving behind strong odors, soot, and harmful residue. Walls, ceilings, furniture, clothing, and personal items have been contaminated, making much of what survived the fire unsafe or unusable. The cleanup process for smoke damage is extensive and costly, requiring professional restoration to make the home livable again.
They've lost clothing, furniture, personal keepsakes, and everyday essentials. Things you never think about replacing—family photos, important documents, and irreplaceable memories—are now gone.
Right now, we are facing overwhelming costs for temporary housing, food, clothing, school necessities for five children, and the long process of rebuilding. Insurance is helping where it can, but it does not cover everything, and the financial strain is more than we can manage alone.
We are asking for support to help cover:
- Living expenses
- Clothing and basic necessities for our five children
- Replacing furniture and household items
- Rebuilding costs not covered by insurance
Any amount, no matter how small, would mean the world to our family. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page would help us more than you know.
This has been one of the hardest moments of our lives, but we are holding onto hope and leaning on the kindness of our community. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can give as we work to rebuild our home and restore stability for our children.
With gratitude,
The Vang Family
