Hope After The Palisades Fire For One-In-A-Million-Matthew

It’s true what they say: the toughest challenges often fall on the shoulders of the best people. This was confirmed on January 9, 2025 when the devastating Palisades fire struck my cousin, Matthew specifically his home. Matthew is truly one in a million - he has the wisdom and emotional depth of someone far beyond his years. He is the kind of person who gives far more than he ever takes, the first to check in and lend a hand, and the last to ask for help. When I first moved to Santa Monica a few years ago, Matthew was one of the first to welcome me with open arms. He’s the kind of person who always shows up—whether it’s to help you move, lend a hand, or simply check in to make sure you’re okay. Matthew has a heart of gold and gives so much to others, rarely asking for anything in return.

Now, after the devastating Pacific Palisades fire, he’s the one who needs our help.

The Pacific Palisades wasn’t just Matthew’s address—it was his safe haven, his sanctuary, his home. After long workweeks on the road traveling and living out of hotels for his job, he treasured coming back to his peaceful oasis. Not long ago, he sent me the photo below taken from his balcony with the caption, “All I need is this view of the Palisades and a good espresso.” That space grounded him, gave him a sense of belonging, community, and a place to recharge and reconnect to something of his own.

But last week, while Matthew was away for work, the fire tore through his neighborhood, leaving him with nothing but ashes. His home is gone. His car is gone. Every single belonging—treasured memories, personal comforts—reduced to nothing.

This GoFundMe isn’t just about replacing what he lost. It’s about helping Matthew overhaul his life from the ground up, restoring his sense of peace, stability, and hope. I know he would never ask for this, but I’m asking because I believe in the power of community and kindness.

If you can, please consider donating. Every bit helps, whether it’s a few dollars or simply sharing this campaign. Let’s give Matthew the support he needs to rise from this tragedy and piece together a new chapter.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity.
