The summer of 2025 changed our community forever. The Long Lake Wildfire in West Dalhousie moved with devastating speed, leaving many people with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Seeing the smoke from our doorstep was our wake-up call. We knew that we couldn't just stand by and do nothing. That is why the LEC Interact Club has committed our energy to the Tiny Home Project located right next to our School.
At Lawrencetown Education Centre (LEC), we don't just read about leadership we live it. Our Interact club is built on the idea of service learning, taking the skills we learn in school and using them to solve real-world problems. We currently have 6 LEC students working right now to assist in building the tiny homes.
We believe that everyone deserves a safe place to sleep. our goal is to raise funds that go directly towards the construction and outfitting of tiny homes designed specifically for those who lost everything in the West Dalhousie Fires. We want to transition families and individuals from temporary shelters back to permanent housing.
By donating to the LEC Interact Club, you are fueling two things: the recovery of the fire victims and the education of young leaders. All of your contributions will help us purchase building materials such as the Lumber, Insulation, Windows, and other hardware for the tiny homes.
