Have you ever heard of Ruby’s girls? For most of our childhood, that’s who we were known as. Our names are Jackie, Becky and Kelly. And we are working to do something to help our mom. 

Mrs. Ruby is a stranger to no one! She’s lived in the same house since at least 1970. She’s known throughout the Hampton and Newport News areas and many have spent time in our home. Maybe she was your babysitter, neighbor, friend of a family member at a nursing home, or laundromat friend, funeral pal (virtually anywhere on the Peninsula), as these are things she’s spent a signifiant amount of time doing. Have you ever needed a ride or a resource? If you called Mrs. Ruby, she was sure to help you in anyway she could.

Now, Ms. Ruby needs our help. We have discovered a number of things in her home to be in grave disrepair. After living independently since the death of her husband, our beloved father in 2004 along with a number of other significant losses and changes she has experienced much!

As she navigates through this new phase which now doesn’t include the presence of her best friend and identical twin sister as of July 2019, things are challenging. Therefore we believe it is best Mrs. Ruby remain in her home as long as possible. Her home is a place that is and has been familiar to her for five decades.
