On January 5, 2026, a devastating apartment fire broke out in the Phillips West neighborhood of south Minneapolis, displacing many families and destroying homes.

Among those affected are my son Dionté, his fiancée Onna, their 3-year-old daughter Tey’Onna, and their beloved dog, Nipsey. In a matter of minutes, they lost nearly everything they owned, including clothing, furniture, household items, and all of their daughter’s belongings. Her recent Christmas gifts, favorite books, treasured blanket, and toys were all lost in the fire.

We are deeply grateful that no lives were lost and that the family and Nipsey were able to escape safely. However, they are now facing the overwhelming reality of rebuilding their lives from the ground up. They are working to secure temporary housing and replace necessities while trying to restore a sense of safety and normalcy for their young child.

We are asking for support from family, friends, and the community to help them begin again. Donations will be used to assist with:

• Clothing, shoes, and winter wear for the family

• Essential household items such as beds, furniture, and kitchen supplies

• Replacing books, toys, and personal items for their daughter

• Temporary housing costs, deposits, and moving expenses

• Food, toiletries, and daily living needs

• Basic pet supplies and care for Nipsey

No amount is too small. Every contribution helps ease the burden and reminds them they are not alone during this challenging time.
