I am reaching out to our community to support a family impacted by a devastating house fire on April 12, 2026, caused by a battery explosion in their home.
Thank you to the quick response of the Nevada City firefighters, the fire was contained before it could spread further and create more damage. Most importantly, Caitlin and Ian and their two young boys, ages 1 and 4, made it out safely. They were treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation and are thankfully recovering, though they may still face unexpected medical expenses.
While the flames were controlled, the smoke damage to their home is extensive and has made it unlivable. Nearly all of their belongings have been affected and are no longer usable, leaving the family needing to replace essential items from the ground up.
They are currently staying with family in town as they work through the next steps with insurance and begin to navigate the process of rebuilding. They are seeking a rental that has two rooms and preferably furnished, since they lost their furniture in the fire.
I am asking for any support you may be able to give during this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the burden as they begin to recover and rebuild.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is another meaningful way to help.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support for Caitlin, Ian, and their boys.
