This morning, my partner, our two dogs, and I experienced something we never imagined: a fire destroyed our apartment and took everything we owned in under an hour. In just a few moments, our lives were turned upside down. We are safe, but we lost all of our belongings—clothing, furniture, dishes, technology, and every little thing that made our place a home. Our dogs are with us, but they lost their kennels, toys, and supplies, too. It’s overwhelming to think about starting over from scratch, but we’re determined to rebuild for ourselves and our pets.

We’re incredibly grateful to have found housing that we can move into on the 16th, but right now, we have nothing to bring with us. The funds from this fundraiser will help us replace the essentials for daily life—clothes to wear, furniture to sit and sleep on, dishes to eat from, kennels and supplies for our dogs. Every bit of support will help us fill our new home and begin to heal from this loss.
